Ingredients
- 1 cup strawberries
- ½ cup blueberries
- ½ cup sea moss gel
- 1–2 tablespoons agave or local honey
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1–2 teaspoons elderberry powder
How to make sea moss fruit roll-ups
- Blend the fruit. Blend the strawberries, blueberries, elderberry powder, lemon juice, and your chosen sweetener until smooth.
- Simmer. Pour the mixture into a saucepan. Simmer over low to medium-low heat for about 5–10 minutes, stirring often, until slightly thickened.
- Cool slightly. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
- Add the sea moss gel. Add the sea moss gel and blend again until completely smooth.
- Spread evenly. Spread the mixture onto a silicone sheet or parchment, about ⅛-inch thick. For the oven method, use a lined sheet pan.
- Dry the fruit sheet. Follow the dehydrator or oven instructions below.
- Cool and roll. Let cool, peel from the liner, slice into strips, and roll. 🙌🏽
Dehydrator method
Dehydrate at 135°F until dry to the touch, flexible, and no longer wet in the center. Start checking around 4–6 hours. Drying time depends on your machine and the thickness of the mixture.
Oven method
Set your oven to its lowest temperature, ideally 150–170°F. Place the lined sheet pan in the oven and bake slowly for about 3–6 hours, checking often.
If moisture builds up, follow your oven manufacturer’s guidance for venting. Only leave the door slightly open if the manufacturer permits it.
The fruit sheet is ready when the center is dry, it peels easily from the liner, and it’s still flexible. Use these texture cues rather than the clock alone.
How to store your fruit roll-ups

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you make fruit roll-ups with sea moss gel?
Yes! Sea moss gel can be added to homemade fruit roll-ups alongside fresh fruit and other ingredients. It's an easy way to incorporate sea moss into a fruity, chewy snack you can make right at home.
How long do homemade sea moss fruit roll-ups last?
We recommend storing your homemade sea moss fruit roll-ups in an airtight container in the refrigerator and enjoying them within 3–5 days. This is a conservative guideline, not a tested shelf life. Because they're made with fresh fruit and sea moss gel, they shouldn't be treated as shelf-stable snacks.
Can I make sea moss fruit roll-ups without a dehydrator?
Absolutely! You can use your oven at its lowest temperature, ideally 150–170°F. Dry the mixture slowly until it's no longer wet in the center but still flexible enough to roll. Drying times will vary depending on your oven and the thickness of the mixture.
Can I use different fruits in this recipe?
Of course! Strawberries and blueberries are what we used, but you can experiment with mangoes, raspberries, peaches, or other fruits you enjoy. Just remember that different fruits contain different amounts of water, so drying times and textures may vary.
What type of sea moss works best for fruit roll-ups?
You can use homemade sea moss gel prepared from Gold, Purple, Green, or Full Spectrum sea moss. We recommend using plain, unflavored gel so you can control the flavor and sweetness of your fruit roll-ups.
How do I know when my fruit roll-ups are ready?
Your fruit roll-ups should feel dry to the touch, peel away from the liner without sticking excessively, and remain flexible enough to roll without breaking. If the center still feels wet or sticky, they need more drying time.
